Readily receives grant to develop an affordable STI test

We're proud to announce that Readily has received a grant from the Gates Foundation to develop a point-of-care molecular test for the most common sexually transmitted infections, chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis, designed for use in low- and middle-income countries.

The test aims to deliver a molecular-grade result close to the patient, on a urine sample or vaginal swab, at a low-cost target per test. It is also designed to detect markers of antibiotic-resistant gonorrhea, helping clinicians treat more precisely and protect the antibiotics that still work while reducing resistance development.

The funding supports early concept and feasibility work, developed open-access and in line with the foundation's global access principles. This is a natural extension of the molecular technology behind our existing work using the same chemistry, aimed at a new global-health challenge.
